Project: Taking inspiration from an iconic or historical piece of design, create your own design.
Inspiration and Ideation: After having attended my very first Broadway show - Hairspray - at the CIBC Theatre in Chicago, I was inspired by the bright colors of the stage lights and costumes. Hairspray's marketing immediately reminded me of Paula Scher's The Diva is Dismissed poster for the Public Theater, so I felt obligated to make my vision come to life.
Outcome: With great source material, I was able to create my own illustration and design which heavily referenced Hairspray's marketing and Paula Scher's poster. It was a simple solution that came together easily.
